im going to start working on my thighs and there is some fat on them and i want to gain some muscle and burn fat to. i all ready walk alot ever day.

if chris A is a body builder, he’s a poor one. #1. he’s definitely wrong. #2. on his profile he asks questions about what kind of workouts help building more mass on his pecs (so he’s an i’ll informed one). Yes you burn fat where you’re working out (here’s one for chris: especially your chest). But it usually isn’t that much. If you want to gain muscle and burn fat, incorporate some cardio to that workout.

  • Chris A says:

    no
you either gain muscle or loose fat
    cant do both

    edit
dude, i only asked that cuz i cant get pecs to grow anymore. my chest has went from 36-43 in 6 months but it stopped at 43.
and you cant do both. you need an excess of calories to build muscle otherwise your body wont have anything to run off of and build it(simple words dunt feel like explaining)
and you need a calorie deflect to shed fat
the more weight you gain the more calories you need
the more weight you loose the less you need
go ask a bodybuilder if you can do both sometime
theyll smirk and laugh at you and say if that was true i wouldnt cut and bulk 3 times a year

Nope. Fat is superficial to the muscle, which is why people can do 100 crunches a day, but if they don’t modify their diet to lose fat, still never have a 6-pack.

That isn’t to say building muscle is useless though–the more muscle mass you have, the more calories your body burns daily to support your additional muscle. So as long as you don’t increase your caloric intake, any additional calories your body burns in a day can only help you reach your goals.

To lose fat though, your body basically has to burn more calories in a day than you eat. Whether you eat less calories to achieve this, or exercise more to burn calories, is up to you. A combination of the two is best. Fortunately, depending on your gender, height, weight, and muscle mass, your body burns over 1500 calories each day just supporting itself. So you don’t have to do 1500 calories worth of exercise.

You can’t target fat loss i.e when you’re working out, you’re loosing fat evenly from all over your body.
